Joan has a passion for eating healthy. She owned a restaurant and was a chef, earlier in her life and her menu items were made from “scratch”. Joan believes the key to health is food.
She feels it is very hard today for folks to determine how or what to eat with the many different opinions on what is healthy. Joan believes that meal prep and planning is probably the best two actions to help people meet their nutritional goals. Joan believes that weight loss does not revolve around “diets” but to individualize a menu based on their nutritional needs.
Throughout her career, Joan has helped people who want to lose weight or are planning on having bariatric surgery or have diabetes- creating a healthy menu and making sure their nutritional needs are met.
Joan helps people with diabetes learn the tools and skills necessary to control their blood sugars. She educates and individualizes meal plans for them. She feels the most important aspect is educating people with diabetes and to clarify many misconceptions that they may have.
Currently she works at Yale in various outpatient offices but is truly grateful to work at JMM Wellness.
