I had made many attempts at weight loss, too many to count. I was one of those people who would lose 5 lbs and gain back 10. We can probably say I have been on a diet for what seemed like my whole life, teetering back and forth until I reached my highest weight of 240 lbs.
I had a lot of reasons for wanting to lose weight. There were health reasons caused by the absolute worst eating habits; I wanted a confidence booster; maybe I could look good for that next big event; wear that little black dress everyone always talks about having; maybe even surprise my doctors who always ended a sentence with "I really would like to see you lose weight" in which I would always reply back jokingly "so would I", but I think the reason that sat with me the most was my mom passed away in her sleep of a heart attack in her 50's. She was overweight. I was approaching 50 soon and that scared me, leaving me with a lot to think about.
I met Jackie in 2014. She was referred to me by a coworker who was attending JMM Wellness for food counseling as she was considering weight loss surgery. Although I knew I was not interested in surgery, I was most definitely interested in learning more about her practice and what I could learn from her when it came to losing weight.
I liked her right away because of her sweet disposition, her motivating ways and her wealth of knowledge. I found many things very interesting about what she had to say about what was to become my new journey. We started out with my eating plan by focusing on what I liked. We went over what my daily routine consisted of; and from there, together, we built a healthy, reasonable and realistic food plan that worked for me. Somehow, despite my excuses I even made the time to incorporate exercise into the equation; something we continue to laugh about to this day because I didn't think I would ever find something I could or even would stick with long enough without dying of boredom. Now 60 lbs lighter I couldn't be happier.
I am a firm believer that people come into our lives for a reason, and I am ever so grateful that Jackie came into mine. Making the decision to meet Jackie was the best decision I could have ever made for myself.

Jacquie has been an enormous help in teaching me how to control my weight and diet in a nonjudgmental, supportive, and pleasant environment. She has given many important insights into nutrition that have not only helped with my weight loss but also with better controlling my existing medical conditions.
